Our Thematic Areas
Education
At The Annie Okonkwo Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the right to quality education, However, Nigeria faces a significant challenge with out-of-school children, with approximately 18.5 million children not attending school(UNICEF 2024). Through our diverse educational initiatives, we aim to provide accelerated learning opportunities for out-of-school children and refugee migrants, equipping children in marginalized communities with essential skills and knowledge, promoting economic independence and social mobility.
Cardiovascular and Cancer Care
Over 90% of cancer care costs are out-of-pocket expenses for patients, contributing to significant treatment delays and disparities based on income levels.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) poses a significant public health challenge in Nigeria, and despite increasing awareness, we still face substantial hurdles in providing adequate cardiovascular care, particularly in rural areas.
At TAOF we aim to provide educative programs and strategic initiatives, leveraging partnerships with the local communities and local leaders to raise awareness and conduct free screening outreaches especially in rural areas. The initiative will ensure that individuals in these communities have access to early detection services, improving treatment outcomes and reducing cancer-related mortality rates.
Community Support
At The Annie Okonkwo Foundation, we believe strongly in fostering community development. Our programs are designed to harness the strength of community support, ensuring that everyone has the resources and encouragement they need to thrive. We actively engage with community members to understand their needs and develop programs that are relevant and effective. We have designed projects to provide financial assitance to families of low income earners to support the educational journey of their children.By mobilizing community resources and volunteers within these communities, we ensure that help reaches those who need it most.
